"The Friends Of The Esperado Children's Haven" was established in Jersey, Channel Islands, UK in 2002. It was started
to help a small children's haven in South Africa that had lost everything in a devastating fire.
Since then the people of Jersey and beyond have been tremendously generous, enabling us to continue helping the Esperado Children's Haven to survive as well as helping
others who are in need of assistance with projects that enable children to live a decent life and achieve a good education, two things that are taken as staple in the UK.
We were originally registered with the Jersey Register of Charitys. But due to a change in Jersey law, we would have to be registered with the charities commission. This change would require us to spend money on Accountants etc. We can continue as before but, we are not allowed to use the word, Charity, in our name. Our organisation has been operating for eighteen years on the basis that every penny donated to us goes to the children. So, we have decided to remove any reference to charity and have shortened our name to "The Friends of Esperado".
The Esperado Charity receives funds from monthly donations, regular donations, and from events that we organise. Every penny that we raise goes to helping children in South Africa.
